If you take last year's results, and scale down # of conf games and scale up
non-conference games (IE, take the conf/non-conf winning percentages and assume those percentages with an even split), you still end up with 8 West and 8 East last year. In fact, 11 of the top 20 would be in the East. Maybe the East teams play better over the season by getting to play easier opponents in general, but West #10 New Orleans (34-48) isn't good.
