BYU is already behind because they have to deal with missions. So you're talking about something that requires more development, more time in a system learning things before you're really ready to go, then missions extend that even further. It could possibly be very difficult to maintain a competitive level of it, if they get there in the first place. They'd probably be more likely to get it to really work for a year or two, but then be prone to suffering major setbacks when certain guys leave the program and they have to rebuild.

Which is because they don't have the depth to consistently reload for something that already takes so long and so much. Now you not only have to build up the starting lineups, but also the depth and have it staggered enough so you don't fall off the face of the earth any given year.

I also don't necessarily buy that this is sure to give us some sort of huge advantage. This system seems really old school and I think it should be adapted some. NFL teams do as well.

But I don't think you understand how hard it might be to actually maintain long-term. This exact offense as it is, isn't the long-term answer.
