…an even more interesting rumor for the USC opening is SDSU’s Brian Dutcher. Other potentials are good ones, Eric Musselman of Ark, Jamie Dixon from USC or Buzz Williams from TAMU.

Even though USC doesn’t have a super rich tradition in college basketball it has this weird fascination and is a glitzy/glamorous place that is somewhat easy to recruit to. Joining the Big10 just heightens its fascination imo. If the rumor has any truth to it and Pope is being considered I wouldn’t blame him for taking it. But, if I was the AD at USC, I’d go full court press to get Dutcher away from SDSU. I know he’s a lifer in San Diego and was Fischer’s long time assistant for the Aztecs, his roots in SoCal, lingering disappointment with SDSU failed effort trying to get into the Pac12 and a chance to land in a power conference school close to home would have to be too much for him to turn down imo.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Trojans go.
