business. We've been steadily growing every year so I end up paying additional taxes with my filings every year. In fact, the IRS requires me to pay quarterly taxes, which I have been doing for many years now, due to where our revenue/profit is at. Last year, we took a bit of a hit/loss for the first time ever. Therefore, I ended up overpaying my quarterly taxes for the first time and the IRS actually owes me money for once. In fact, they owe me a fairly sizable amount of money, but nothing that would make more than the tiniest dent in their gigantic bank account.
I always have my accountant get our taxes done early, usually in February, even though we always owe, just so we can get it behind us and figure out our money situation and company budgets for the new year. I then pay the IRS the rest of what I owe them (again, in February) and move on with my life.
This year, my taxes were electronically filed on February 15 - plenty of time for the IRS, who should not be busy at that time, to process my taxes and give me my refund in a timely manner. Here we sit at April 30, 2.5 months later, and my taxes still show in the "Received" stage - not even to "Reviewed" yet. So they happily take my money that they owe me, make me pay them early (quarterly), make decent interest off my money, and do it as long as they feel they want to. What a joke.
