I've always loved BYU sports since I was a kid, and a big part of it was the connection I had (or thought I had) with the players. I idolized the football and basketball players. I could recite all their numbers, stats, where they were from, etc. It was a huge part of my fandom and I don't think I'd still be as interested today as I am unless I had those memories of great players playing for "my" team for 3 - 4 years. These one and done guys make it hard to enjoy and connect with...I'm starting to check out and the younger fans don't really care. Transfer portal + NIL is ruining college sports. There's a way to reward players without it being this free for all, but here we are.
