So you don't think it had
anything to do with Jimmer being the most hyped player in the country (deservingly so) and people tuning in to see him? I won't deny it, but even I tuned in to watch Jimmer play.

And I am sure that none of the fans that tuned in were from Florida, the 4th most populated state in the USA.

Trying to attribute this to some large national following is a bit funny to me.

Can I pick one random game to show the opposite? What about the New Mexico bowl which dropped 25% in the ratings from the previous New Mexico bowl that had national powerhouse audiences from Wyoming and Fresno State. Does this mean that Wyoming has a 25% larger national fan base than BYU?


BYU has a good national fan base, better than Utah's no doubt. But even if every single Mormon in the United State was an avid sports fan (they are not) and 100% of them were BYU fans (they are not), that would still be a tiny,tiny national fan base in comparison to teams that truly have national fan bases like Notre Dame, USC, Florida, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan etc....
