it has everything to do with getting to 6 wins for the utes.

same reason washington paid to get out of the last two games of their series with BYU after losing the first two games. here's something no ute fan has ever experienced, beating washington.

the utes can run, but they can't hide. besides, they have no national footprint. nobody decent is going to come to a 35k seat band box to play, no exposure AND no money. nobody ever has. the only reason any team ranked team comes to play at RES is because it's a conference game. you never hear a ute fan talk about ANYTHING before 2004. they are so late to big time football that they don't even know how to act. the caught a once in a lifetime break with the perfect storm of not having to play oregon and stanford and usc being on probation, and they still ended up with 4 conference losses. that's big east territory. lousy teams beating other lousy teams.

they're going to get excoriated by fans and media as...afraid. i can hardly wait!
