JK Rawlings ripped off Tolkien and Lewis. Tolkien stole liberally from Norse mythology, and Narnia is a hodgepodge of Greek and Medieval tales with even Santa Claus thrown in.

Lady Gaga stole from Madonna; Madonna stole from Marilyn Monroe; Marilyn stole from Mae West; etc. There hasn't been an original RomCom since Jane Austen.

Original ideas are precious and rare. Presenting old ideas in new and fresh ways is the base of creativity.
