Sadly, your experience couldn’t happen today without several people being fired.
You outlined at least 4 terminable violations of current-day federal regulations.
I like Alaska (and Delta) and have had similarly awesome experience with them. I think they’re two of the best run airlines.
It’s a shame things can’t run like they used to.
