Keep in mind Elder Holland takes the calling of a missionary pretty seriously.
My MP and he were besties (MP referred to him as "Jeff" and he visited our mission while on July vacation to say hi) and according to my MP nothing got Jeff's blood boiling like missionaries who didn't seem to grasp the importance of their calling.
Not saying this makes a reaction like that appropriate but some context perhaps.
