About 40 of them roost in a tree next to our home. They're terrible. They make noise, tear up the yard, poop all over. We can't stand them.
I bought my son an air-powered pellet gun, thinking we'd be able to shoo them off the property. I figured the gun would be strong enough to kill a squirrel, but didn't think it would do much to a turkey.
Imagine the surprise on both of our faces, when my 12-year-old looked up at me after shooting into the flock saying: "Dad, I think I killed one." I have since learned that A) An air-powered pellet gun is, in fact, powerful enough to kill wild turkeys, and B) Wild turkey meat is not as good as I thought it would be.
