I nave not been in years.. but when i went i always liked the 8th arrondissement (Madeleine) best..
Most tourists seem to pick the Tuileries (1st arrondissement).. but there are some super nice (yet lower-priced) hotels in the fashion district. There are also a handful of smaller museums that give me a better feel for classic Paris life (The Nissim for example).
Honestly.. no matter where you stay you are close to everything.
