I am a bit different from both. Like Bronco, Pope was only a BYU guy when he was
at BYU. As long as he was here, he put his soul into the team and the game. Pope was better with the media and fans than Bronco, but they just had their own coaching philosophy and tried to use BYU's strengths and get around its weaknesses. I believe he truly loved his players and represented BYU well. But when they were gone, they were gone, and tried to use the contacts and relationships they made to take the coaches and players they felt they had developed with them.

I would have done the same thing.

Only thing that surprised me is that he went silent on the way out, which was just weird and different than he had ever been.

I still don't understand the reasoning behind it and what benefit it provided him. Kentucky wouldn't have cared. Coaches and players loyal to him wouldn't have cared, and might have even been more likely to go with him.

Oh well. I will be watching and am fine if he succeeds, and I will also be interested to watch if he fails.
