Here is the math for a single 60W bulb at 1 hour per day for a year
60W x 1 hour per day x 365 days = 21900 Watt hours = 21.9 KWH, or about $2.19 per year assuming $.10 per KWH (some areas are much higher than this).

That is for every hour per day. If it is a porch light that is on 10 hours per day, that is $21.90 per year. Start counting how many bulbs are in your house and it adds up quickly. Then add the replacement costs for bulbs that burn out.
