I've had CFLs go out on me, but I have more confidence in LEDs.
I'm looking into switching. I wish they made higher equivalents ... ie at LED that produces the equivalent of a 100W light bulb. Maybe they do, I just haven't check. CFLs were rare.

Hopefully buying at Costco helps. They should take them back if they fail early.

The Christmas lights still aren't affordable given the amount of use.

The thing I like about LED strings is that you can string together like 100 of

This sounds crazy. Who spends $800 a year on lightbulbs? $66/mo?

Here is the math for a single 60W bulb at 1 hour per day for a year
workindev
1/7/14 12:50pm
So LEDs cost about about $4.00 for 10hr/day/year ... if I did the math right?

Yup - a 13W bulb @ 10 hours per day would be $4.75/year (at $.10 per KWH)
