I can agree with every part of those statements save the atrophy part.
I graduated last year and i can honestly say that the beard ban at BYU didnt improve my BYU experience one bit, it often detracted from it.

I think those around here who shake their heads at people like these would be surprised to see that BYU actually wouldn't denigrate into anarchy if the administration would hand back (note students gave those powers to the admin) control of certain aspects of the honor code to the students.

The grooming standards are like unto the law of moses. There are many people who feel this way. Its silly that there are more stringent standards at BYU then there are to enter the temple.

I'm grateful that i got to go to the university, but implying that BYU is perfect in these regards and that students cant complain or ask for re-evaluation of some standards that aren't eternal or ultimately important is silly.

Sure you can claim that there are those who would take their place but in my experience a large portion of the student body feels this way, i get the sense that their replacements would feel the same.
