sort of like Bronco and Doman telling Brad Sorenson there was no place for him..
...at BYU and he should look elsewhere? Or Bronco not bothering to recruit Taysom Hill until WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too late in the process and he was already best buds with Jim Harbaugh at Stanford?

So lets put this another way, you're looking to buy a car and the salesman has a Corvette (or name your own favorite sports car) and he has it listed way, way, way, way under value to the point that he's practically giving it away (its so below book value). According to what you're saying, you would refuse to get it on the cheap and insist on paying full book value?

You'd negotiate AGAINST yourself?! Makes no sense.

"Excuse me sir, your house is listed on the market $50K below it's appraised value. That's too low, I'd like to buy it from you but I insist on paying full appraised value or it's no deal!"

Makes no sense.

Pitta wasn't an NFL talent when he played H.S. He wasn't an NFL talent until several years after growing and developing in Anae's offense. Very few kids coming right out of H.S. jump out and are proclaimed sure NFL stars. Many superstar H.S.ers look like sure fire college stars and wash out, happens every year (*cough* Ben Olsen). You don't know until you get them here and see how they do at the next level (minimizes risk due to the Peter Principle).

Bringing him in as a preferred walk-on when NOBODY ELSE ON THE PLANET WAS SERIOUS ABOUT OFFERING HIM was a smart move and low risk. He quickly showed ability when Crowton saw his potential at a different position (TE instead of WR) and gave him a schollie. Win-win.
