I think it's funny to label the CB politics or religion (or other) categories as "typically conservative." Obviously they are, but why does that matter? Do you want them to be typically conservative? Do you want to post your thoughts on politics just to have lots of people agree with you? Like I said, of course there are contrarians, it's the internet. If you have a problem with them, you can easily ignore them (I can think of like two, maybe three posters right now that you are labeling as contrarian).
There are contrarians the other way as well - people who no matter what you say about some liberal idea (politics, religion, or otherwise) will brow beat you, even if your liberal idea is honest. Again, it is the internet.
I posed my original questions in response to your OP because i think it is odd to just assume that the norm in certain CB categories should be "typically conservative". Whether or not it is, assuming that is basically saying "BYU grads should be conservative, and I have a problem with people who like to poke holes in what I think BYU grads/LDS men (generally) should believe"
