We couldn't really wake our son out of it. His eyes were open and it seemed like
he had just woken up from a dream, but it didn't matte what we did to try and help him snap out of it. It would run its course for anywhere from 1-5 minutes and then he would calm down and go back to sleep.

He never remembered what had happened the following morning. It was pretty infrequent and only happened once every 2-3 months for about a year or two.
