I don’t fault Pope for taking his dream job, but I won’t be rooting for him.
I’m an insignificant BYU fan, I get how I feel doesn’t matter. But when Pope simply referred to BYU as his “last school” during his UK intro that was it for me. Add that to not even a single social media post thanking the school, fans, or players after laying on praise for years and it just makes him seem classless to me. It’s not hard to express gratitude for where you’ve been while being excited for your next step. Here’s a few recent examples of how it’s done with class within hours of taking a new job:
