I watched The Godfather last night for the first time after watching The Offer
The Offer, by the way, is really good. Enjoyed it a lot. But I had never seen The Godfather. Decided I had to watch it.

So that is considered the best movie of all time? Maybe at the time it was great but it doesn’t hold up and it’s an average movie in every way. Story was nothing special, characters were just so so. Other than Brando, the acting was average. And there are like 20 actors alive right now that could do what he did in that movie. And I agree that Pacino was not a good casting for Michael. He seemed very out of place. Character development was terrible. One scene he is saying how he’s nothing like his family and then in the next he’s like, “I’ll shoot those two guys.” Sonny beating up Carlo was a laughably bad fight scene. Like it makes WWF look real that’s how bad it was.

I have no appreciation for old movies because they all suck. The writing is bland and poor and I can only imagine that people from back then were so easily shocked and amazed because they didn’t have the internet. The Departed is a far superior mob movie and it’s not even considered a great mob movie by most. How we are still talking about The Godfather this many years later is baffling to me.

The Offer however is very good and deserves to be watched. Even though it is the story of how such a terrible overrated film was made. It’s at least a good story. Better than the actual movie it depicts making.
