NewEgg and OnTrac. Frustrated.
As previously mentioned, I ordered many computer parts from NewEgg last week. The goal was to build a new PC from scratch, my first PC build in years. I was excited.

I placed my order with NewEgg, and they split it into two parts for shipping. One for the case and monitor, one for the rest of the components. The shipper was OnTrac. I had never heard of them, but I had no other choice in shippers, and I assumed everything would be fine.

Both parts of my order arrived in Salt Lake last Friday morning, around 7 AM. The monitor and case arrived at my house around 11 AM that same day. So far, so good!

I checked the tracking status of the other package a few times that day. No update other than that it had arrived at their facility in SLC that morning.

It did not arrive on Friday.

Saturday, I checked NewEgg's website, and it seemed to indicate deliveries will not be made on Saturday. So I wait all day Saturday and all day Sunday.

Monday rolls around. Monday noon rolls around. Monday 2 PM rolls around. No update. According to the tracking info, my parts have been sitting at a facility 20 minutes from my house for four days now with no movement.

So I call OnTrac, give them my tracking number. Lady says she'll look into it and call me when she finds out what's going on.

An hour later, she calls back to inform me that my package is lost. The driver who delivered my monitor and case could not find it on Friday, and no one since had seen it.

So I contact NewEgg. Inform them that their shipper admits to losing the package, and can they please send another one.

I am met with a representative telling me all they can do is file a claim with OnTrac, and he can't even do that until 6:30 PM.

So I call NewEgg again, at 6:35. I am again met with a representative who tells me the only option is to file a claim with OnTrac. This will take 7-10 days.

Am I wrong to be upset at this point? NewEgg forced me to use OnTrac. OnTrac screwed up. The tracking info shows the package never left their facility. This is not a situation where I say the package was never delivered and OnTrac disputes that.

7-10 days to figure out what's going on and get it fixed.

I told the guy to cancel the order entirely, refund my money, and I'd ship back the monitor and case.

I went with Amazon, instead. Same parts, and actually about $100 cheaper when all was said and done.

I'm done with NewEgg.
