Prank on HCBW-Failed
I have pranked my HCBW over the years, but last week's prank didn't end like I thought it would. My HCBW is wrapping up her graduate degree. Her classes are in the evenings so she calls me when gets in her car to drive home. Last Thursday evening I told the kids 'let's prank mom tonight', so the following action plan was set into motion.

We turned over the chair by the front door, we put some (framed) pictures on the floor, knocked over a couple of lamps, scattered the mail from the counter onto the floor, scattered the belongings from my wallet and put my wallet on the floor. We opened the front door, the garage door (both the outside and inside) and the back door. We turned on most of the lights (it was 10:15 pm). My kids set up two videos (different angles) to record her reaction.

When my wife called and as I was speaking with her, my daughter stepped outside and rang the door bell, my son yelled to me, 'dad someone is at the door'. I told my wife I needed to go someone is at the door, so I will see you when you get home. Note: we live in a gated community and we rarely have someone knocking on our door let along at 10:15 pm at night.

We knew my wife would be home in about 10 mins so we went to back room and hid in the closet. As soon as we got in the closet my son said, 'dad, I don't think this is a good idea', my daughter said, 'mom is going to freak out', I said 'it will be fine as long as she doesn't call 911'. We finally heard her come into the house.

She was on the phone with her mom when she entered the house. I heard her say, 'I need to go, something has happened'. She yelled my name twice before I heard her run out of the house, my son said, 'you better go get her', I started to run after her. She ran, jumped in the car was backing out the garage when I finally caught up with her. She was in shocked, I don't think she realized it was me because she wasn't about to stop. I literally had to jump on the side of the car and yell, 'it's me, it's ok, it was a prank'.

She finally stopped, halfway out of the driveway, I thought she was going to run over me. She was really freaked out, it took a few minutes for her to roll down the window and talk to me. I quickly realized, I was in BIG trouble. Luckily, I reached her before she called 911, she had dialed 91 just as I jumped on the side of the car.

It was not a good evening, it took her about 20 minutes to finally come back into the house. My kids were sitting on the couch and they quickly apologized but she said 'I know it wasn't your idea, it was your dad and he is evil so I don't blame you, I blame him, he is evil and bad, who does something like that and involves their own children, he is a bad, bad man'. Through all the years of marriage, she was as mad at me as she had even been, it was not good.

Overall though the set-up was good because she thought we have been killed or kidnapped. Her plan was to get out of there asap and call 911. I have pranked her so much over the years, I figured she would have known it was prank and would have started to look for us in the house. Boy, I was wrong.

I stayed up a little later than usual that night and finally went to bed after I knew she was asleep.

Has anyone else pranked someone and the outcome was not exactly what you expected?
