Would have more than 15 minutes of material.
I don't know if there is anything wrong with that, but I do find it funny how defensive they get over these things. I remember one local personality doing his show from a remote location denying he read cougarboard, not realizing he was set up in front of a window and from inside the building I was watching him browse cougarboard at the very same time he said he did not read it.
I also remember during the whole b4h fiasco
, local radio filled up a significant amount of their time talking about whether the alleged press conference was going to happen, was not going to happen, and what it might be if it did happen. After the truth came out, I got several threatening mails.
My thoughts for local media:
1) own who you are. The truth is always the best defense. If you get defensive, it's more obvious you are guilty.
2) stop being so lazy, don't rely on message boards. Get out and do your homework so you have something to report on, and you can report on it accurately. If you don't do your own due diligence before opening your trap,it's your own fault when you get duped.
3) in the end, cover real news, not message boards. This plays to my previous point, but Utah sports radio really sucks. I think I have listened to a whopping hour in the last 5 years. Usually after about 2-3 minutes I can't take it anymore because its so bad. It's a combination of not much to cover, and being to lazy to chase down the real news. Listening to two guys rib each other on air is not sports radio.
