It has happened several times. The Laufasa kid just last year that you seem
to ignore, and others cited by LV Coug.
Nobody needs "convincing". There is documented evidence that BYU has done just that several times as well as anectdotal evidence for many others.
Live with it.
Pita is a different case. He had a 22 ACT, above Bronco's min standard of 19, and apparently his GPA is well above Bronco's 3.0 min standard. His problem is that they cannot find his 9th grade transcripts, or that the transcripts were deficient wrt the NCAA requirements (wrong classes perhaps). It will be interesting to see if Utah can "find" the right 9th grade transcripts for him.
