You want evidence? Look at the U's inclusion in the academically elite PAC-12
They have said they won't take a team from a school that doesn't fit in academically.
Then look at individual program rankings.
Then look at the level of publications in STEM fields.
Then look at academic honors given to faulty.
Then look at The rankings of the health sciences schools (generally accepted to be the most academically elite departments at a university)
