There is a little boy in heaven today cheering for Teancum Fuga. Orion's favorite player was Romney Fuga (and KVN of course) and his favorite Book of Mormon character was Teancum, so naturally Teancum Fuga became his new favorite player.
When he heard that Teancum committed to play for BYU he was so excited that he went and read his favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon, Alma 62. I could see the wheels spinning and he said "Teancum is going to throw sacks at quarterbacks."
I didn't think much of it until we came home from the hospital without him yesterday. We had empty hearts and one extra vacant seat, it was a long drive home from Primary Children's Hospital. When we pulled into our neighborhood and we saw the "BYU blue" balloons and ribbons tied to every tree, mailbox and sign I thought of that moment. He would always say "Teancum won't let that happen" when the other team got yards up the middle of the field.
Orion loved the cougars more than anything. I think it is amazing how much of an impression a recruit that has never played a down of football for BYU can have on kids. Teancum just became my new favorite cougar and I will think of my boy every time his name is called.
