Pac-12 has probably created a mess for itself in getting CU without CSU or Utah without BYU. Now CSU and BYU will have options going forward. CSU really has a long way to go, but they are pushing hard. You will see results at the end of this year and towards next year. Those who watched the Alabama game saw that CSU played them tough, but they are still missing some pieces.
CSU is really looking hard for LDS players and the recruiting office is being educated regularly on how to specifically recruit LDS kids -- how to adjust their environment, how to work around missions, etc.
I didn't think it was an accident when I recently attended a Legacy dinner with 41 other main sponsors of CSU and Max Morgan (brother to our BYU Morgan players) was sitting immediately next to the head coach.
It is going to take some time for sure, but CSU plans on walking with BYU into Big 12 as a preference. BYU is doing its job, but CSU needs some help. The second CSU reaches that level of competition (in football as it is already doing well in basketball and several women's sports --- they just started women's soccer) you will see the conferences scramble to include these two schools to cover the mountain west (Denver/Front Range -- SLC/Provo/Wasatch Front). That is about 6 million people who one of the conferences will want to take.
