In my undoubtedly expert opinion, the success of this teams resides on Matt Carlino. Not that he's the best player, but he's the play that can make the most difference.
Right now this team has only one real point guard and that's Matt. When he's playing well, BYU wins. When he struggles, the team struggles. Unfortunately, there isn't a backup pg on the team that can adequately fill his shoes when he's having an off night (unless you are playing lowly San Diego). The KC experiment at the 1 is a big mistake and it has shown.
If Matt is having an off game teams can get physical with Haws and the ball doesn't get into Mika nicely for him. Mika hasn't developed all the offensive moves he needs to be effective anywhere around the basket (but he is getting there and will).
