BYU is different and Cougarboard is too
Cougarpride's POTD from yesterday is about as well stated as I have read.

"BYU fans need to step it up and raise to a higher level than other boards, other school's fans."

Having a place to vent negativity and complain is NOT a good thing when it can influence so many other people (and is usually not good ever).

I simply do not believe the level of cynism and negativity expressed on here is a true reflection of the feelings of BYU fans in general or even most CB'ers. I think that this forum provides a place where heat of the moment negativity gets exagerated and then backed tot he bitter end becasue it was expressed. This is unfortunate.

Despite the bad stuff this board is still very different than other boards, but it could and should be more so. The vile garbage posted on many other boards would never happen on CB, but other boards should not be used as an excuse for a less offensive but still inappropriate posts on CB.

Why would you ever attack a kid like Nate Austin? Or even Riley Nelson? Why not be disappointed for when a good LDS prospect chooses another school but be be happy for him anyway?

Why engage in Ute hate? Fun spiritied rivalries are one thing, but why fuel over the top negative feelings with rivals? I could go on with more examples.

"Its a fan board", "I'm a passionate fan", "Don't tell me what kind of fan to be", "If you can't take it, leave" etc. are pretty weak justificatiosn for being a jerk.

We don't all have to join arms and sing kum-ba-ya after a bad loss, but there is a point when the complaining gets to be too much. I think everyone on here knows this, but hey, its an anonymous fan board, right?

C'mon CB, execute at a higher level!
