During the cold war when we lived in fear of a soviet ICBM attack? During the first half of the last century when the fought two world wars? In the late 1800's when we were killing our own countrymen? Or when we had declared independence and fought a war over high taxes and a lack of autonomy? It seems to me like the world is more calm now than it has ever been. I think we are lucky to live when we do.
