Mars warming, global cooling in the 1970's, etc.

I am starting a new thread because this might help others clear up some misconceptions about martian warming or the claimed ice age predictions of the 70's.

1.  Every source that I have read points to atmospheric dust being behind martian warming:

You seem to be suggesting that the sun is the driving force, since that is the only common forcing for both earth and mars.  That is a good hypothesis, except that solar output has been going in the opposite direction as earth temperatures.

2.  We can develop technology for cleaner energy sources and use them to reduce emissions.

(at least look over figure 4)

The table on page 3 of this paper gives a good summary of the literature:

3. Yes, see my sources for 2 and 2b.

Certain people (aka "liars") will deny this, but as recently as the 1970s and 1980s, we were being warned of the inevitability of the impending return of the ice age. What if such warnings were correct, only we are being saved by our carbon-loading?

You should probably refrain from calling people liars.  It appears that you are the one that has been lied to concerning the 1970's and 1980's.

Global cooling was a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth's surface and atmosphere culminating in a period of extensive glaciation. This hypothesis had little support in the scientific community, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s and press reports that did not accurately reflect the full scope of the scientific climate literature, i.e., a larger and faster-growing body of literature projecting future warming due to greenhouse gas emissions. The current scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone global warming throughout the 20th century.

The movement's leaders disgust me. I would not trust them to clean my toilets.

Agreed.  I can't stand Al Gore, et al.  That is why I look at the actual science, and what scientists trained in the field are saying.
