I bet Eddie knows better
Check the brakes make sure the pads haven't been worn out. Make sure the chain looks greased. Make sure the front fork is tight with no play. As well as pedal component. Make sure it switches to all gears (although adjusting that is pretty easy).

If it has been ridden only once all that should be in great working condition.

Mine was in great working condition and had been ridden quite a bit. The tires on mine will need to be replaced it is easy to tell they show a lot of wear.
