After those last twenty or so games, Ty offered Jeff a chance to join Ty's staff as a full time assistant and Jeff decided to give it a try. Jeff was Ty's assistant for about two and a third years where he got the experience needed to be a candidate for the Phoenix job.
That was Phoenix's brilliant move.
