I would ask my priesthood leader for advice and do whatever they told me.

Hopefully in a situation like this the question would go up the correct channels (maybe even to the first presidency). I wouldn't want to be held accountable for going directly contrary to general counsel to the church unless I was given a pass by my priesthood leader or received undeniable personal revelation.
