It is nice to be the only undefeated club in MLS so far this year. Even if we've left four points on the table RSL is off to a great start. But other good things are happening that shouldn't go unnoticed... especially for those wondering about the long term viability of RSL as a power team.
The academy team is competing in the Adidas Generations Cup. They are doing well and in a position to bring home a trophy. They held even with Stoke City eventually winning on PKs but then they went on to crush... no seriously, I mean CRUSH, the LA Galaxy Academy team. 6-1
I don't like how Hansen leaves it late on negotiations with his club leadership but he is investing in the academy and staying ahead of the game there. RSL may not go out and buy the names of some of their counterparts but something great is going on with the academy system, it is worth a follow.
