There are two kinds of coaches, executives, upper management, etc. Basketball guys and numbers guys. George Karl (and Lionel Hollins for that matter) are old school basketball guys. They evaluate talent by the eyeball test. Dennis Linsdey, on the other hand, is a huge numbers guy. Metrics and measurables are what he looks for in players. Hiring a basketball guy under a metrics GM would be a repeat of the Art Howe/Billy Beane conflict of the Oakland A's. While it is possible, I doubt you'll see either one of them coaching the Jazz next year.

By the way, I don't think the comment regarding Greg is really all that applicable. It's been well noted that Greg's management style is very dis-similar to Larry's. Greg is much more hands off with the Jazz and while he essentially does have the final say (unless Gail overrides him) Greg has been leaving the running of the team to Randy Rigby, Kevin O'Connor and Dennis Lindsey.
