My wife and I want to hike the Narrows. We came very close to trying to get walk-in permits four years ago, but due to flash flood warnings, we decided against it. Now we live in CA and would have to make a trip out there (and get babysitters). Any tips for getting permits? We want to do July, so the dates should become available to reserve on May 5th. Do they get taken right away? Do I have to sit there and refresh it at midnight of May 5th in order to get it like signing up for popular BYU class?

Any other tips related not related to getting tickets? And how to prepare. Feel free to share any experiences as well if you've done it.
