That's not what they said. They said he's completely different this spring.
It hasn't even been long since the season ended and he's made HUGE progress and looks and plays totally different out there.
There were two players FAR FAR worse than him and they may not even be starting this fall. Nothing wrong with expecting improvement in guys who have another year under their belt in a new system.
