I guess it was more palatable to rack up wins against UNM and UTEP and CSU if it meant BYU was taking another step toward a conf championship. But you can't call those games "quality" and keep a straight face.

I guess I am somewhat in the minority in the fact that I like the Independent schedule better than the old conf schedules. I like new and unique matchups each year, as opposed to the same teams over and over again. But I do admit that November is quite anti-climatic, especially with home finales against Idaho, NMSU, and Savannah State.
