I'm just one example so I don't know if it should factor into your decision at all.

I had the surgery and then it basically made it worse. I went back to the ENT and told him that my nostril seems more blocked than ever. He looked at it and basically said that it look like some bone had grown out after the surgery and that's what was blocking it. So, I had the surgery done again and he was more aggressive to clear it better. I don't notice a big change and I probably wouldn't have had it done had I known what I know now.

My wife also had the surgery done (before we met) and I think hers went fine.
