RE: I had that surgery done in December.
The splint removal was likely the single most painful event in my life, i thought they had possibly inserted nerves from my scrotum into my nose during the surgery without telling me. The cotton removal was fun as well....

Here is the kicker.....5-6 years after the surgery I had a physical where I had to list previous surgeries. During the exam, the doc told me mu septum was deviated again. I have no idea when that happened, but I play basketball weekly and have had my nose bumped more times than I can count.

I would consider a few things before doing it:
-does it currently bother you?
- are you a runner or some other sort of competitive athlete where breathing better can improve your performance?
-do you play contact sports for fun--increasing the chance of re-deviating it?

The biggest difference I saw was cosmetic---my nose was fairly crooked and pointed down a bit. The surgery straightened it out and lifted it slightly---unintended nose job.
