“It was really important for our boys to get off to a good start in this year’s Varsity Cup,” BYU head coach David Smyth said. “It took us a little while to settle down against Dartmouth, but once we did, we were able to really move the ball and play good rugby. Hopefully that good play will continue this weekend against Navy.”
Navy head coach Mike Flanagan is familiar with BYU rugby’s recent success and didn’t waste much time formulating his gameplan to combat the defending national champion Cougars.
“We want to get after them and make them play defense,” Flanagan said about BYU following last week’s win over Texas. “Not a lot of teams can make them play defense, so we have to force the issue. If we don’t, we are just going to be prey like everybody else.”

I will say this, BYU wins this game because of BYU backs. BYU forwards will be strong enough to withstand Navy discipline, but Navy can't answer BYU backs...hence Navy FORCING BYU to play D.
