Tesla Model S- no comparison
I've owned a Tesla Model S 60 for the past year and it has changed my expectations on cars completely. If you haven't had a chance to drive one yet, please do- even if you don't buy.

I did a LOT of cost analysis prior to buying. Ultimately if you look at total cost of ownership over 10 years including insurance, maintenance, gas, and expected depreciation- the Model S becomes a very cost effective choice. This doesn't even have to be in comparison with premium sedans. Even compared to a decked out Toyota Camry with all the options, the TCO of a Tesla is still comparable. If you buy a Q50 or Genesis, the TCO for Tesla blows them away. It is difficult to get one's head around that, because we are so used to looking at MSRP for cost comparison, but that is just not the reality of car ownership.

The drive is like no other. May not be for everyone, but give me a silent drive, instant torque, and regenerative braking any day.
No range anxiety. I plug in every night to just my 110V outlet which charges me up easily for my 30 mile daily commute. On the weekends I have no problem taking it 80 miles up and 80 miles back to Raleigh (I live in Fayetteville, NC currently). The free supercharger network has made it possible to go up and down 95 without a problem, and coast to coast as well. (I haven't had to do this, but the opportunity is there). I have the third row jump seats and so I can fit my 5 kids in for weekend trips to the beach no problem. 7 seats in a sedan! That's crazy!

Plus, it just keeps getting better. New tweaks to the software with added functionality to improve the experience are remotely updated every few months.

Obviously, I'm now biased, but I was initially really anxious about buying into new tech/new startup initially. It was a big step, particularly with the initial purchase cost. I don't feel that anxiety anymore. Tesla is doing it right. Great buying experience, great customer service, great automotive service available at your doorstep if needed. The whole company is first rate. I told them about a little rattle I was having and they came to my house to check it out. Offered to take it to their service station and leave me with a loaner Tesla P85 performance while they had it if I was still experiencing problems.

I'll stop now before it starts to look like I worship Elon Musk, but if you have any questions just message me. You can also check out the model S forums on teslamotors.com. Lots of discussion there for new/prospective owners about the Tesla experience. Don't know where you live, but if you are around here I would love to show it off.
