I have recently made the jump from PC to Mac, and I've heard good things and bad things on both iWorks and Office 2011 for Mac (I have both). Personally, I would rather wait to use Outlook for Mac until they update the UI (looks horrible on the Retina display). Considering: using the Apple "Mail" app for my Gmail account vs. gmail.com in a web browser.

Thoughts? Pros/ Cons to these options?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina running OS X Maverick (excited about Yosemite; looks really good).

Also have an iPhone 5S, currently use the Gmail app, not the apple one. TIA
