were a refiner's fire unlike anything subsequent generations ever faced. This is why they were the greatest generation. Take that and season it with the wisdom and experience of eight or nine decades of life and you have an incredible human being. They are passing away more and more every day and won't ever be replaced. In another 5-10 years they will all be gone and we will be the poorer for it.
