In an effort to help our friends of the same faith (ALUFs)
Let me explain something to you about missionaries and contact with other schools. If in the course of a collegiate athlete missionary's service he decides that he would rather attend another school after his mission, there is absolutely nothing nefarious or against the rules going on if either him or his parents or his Mission President contact the new school. If that missionary is currently under obligation to another school (like with a signed LOI) the school that has been contacted would simply refer the missionary back to his original school and tell them that they can talk to them once they obtain a release from their obligation. If that missionary is not under obligation to another school, there is nothing underhanded about talking to the kid (or his representatives) or even agreeing to meet with him once he returns from missionary service so as not to distract him from his service.

No rules broken, Riley Nelson or otherwise. Hope this helps.
