I try not to get to bent out of shape regarding this whole thing. I think fans of a school are going to be ticked off when they lose recruits for any reason, so they look for people to blame. In many of these cases, kids just decide they want to be at BYU because of the spiritual experience on their mission. Seems reasonable.
I don't know any of the details. I guess if this mission president, who has a very close and personal relationship with these young men, somehow works for BYU or is a booster or something to that effect, then I guess there could be an issue. Otherwise, I don't really care. It's up to the young man to make a decision.
And you should really ditch the term ALUF. It's stupid, it inappropriately paints LDS fans of Utah with a broad brush, and it makes those fans despise you even more. But perhaps that's what you want.
