As a society we need to do a better job teaching that actions have consequences
I noticed this blurb at the bottom of the article:

"Sanders was suspended for the 2013 season opener after a drunken-driving arrest."

I wonder if Sanders might have changed his behavior if he had faced a real punishment for his DUI instead of a token suspension for 1 game against New Mexico State.

It's impossible to know if a more fitting punishment for his DUI would have changed his behavior and prevented this incident from happening. But I can't help but compare and contrast with KVN who was held accountable for his actions and grew from the experience.

Probably an apples to oranges comparison with KVN, but i think it's evident that KVN's 1 year suspension improved his life. Sander's token 1 game suspension might have sent the message that there would not be serious consequences regardless of his actions.
