I'm not sure BYU would accept an invite to the PAC-12. Although, I am quite sure the PAC-12 would love to have 14 votes at P5 autonomy system, and BYU would add 100 times more respectability and viewers than the pukes and Colo. combined. I think the PAC-12 would hate to see BYU join the BIg-12 because the BIG-12 would capture most of the D-1 intermountain TV audience and BYU would way overshadow the pukes membership in the PAC-12. The pukes would sink even further into the "little brother" category. If I understood the between-the-lines messages a year or so ago, the PAC-12 was very "disappointed" the pukes membership in the conference did not capture more interest in the BYU dominated intermountain area. It simply make more sense to the PAC-12 to expand to 14 teams and snag BYU before the BIG-12, or any other conference gets them and draws so much interest away from the PAC-12. Also, BYU has more fans on the west coast than many of the member schools. Personally, I would hate to see us in the extremely liberal PAC-12. We would be the hated and persecuted target of every member school. We don't fit their far left beliefs. However, the Church never backs down from a challenge. The brethren might look at membership in the PAC-12 as an opportunity to change attitudes of some people along the "left" coast. I'm hoping the BIG-12 will see the advantage of having at least 12 votes at the P5. Also, someone mentioned the BIG-12 may not get as many schools into major bowls without a playoff system. It is somewhat interesting that after considering many schools and conferences, C-USA gave their spot in the Beach Bowl to BYU. I'm sure ESPN helped us, but as I understand it, the ACC owns the Beach Bowl and readily accepted BYU as a replacement for a C-USA school even though BYU is about 2000 miles away.
